Equipment

My camera, lenses, and accessories are the tools of my trade. I share them here only to let you know where your picture comes from – and to assure you that you are receiving quality in every photograph. My camera is the paintbrush that allows me to display what I see in nature.

Each picture is a work of art – not from me, but from nature. I try to capture the colors, the mood, the grandeur of the setting, and even the warmth or chill in the air so the viewer can feel present. But each picture requires unique challenges. Various filters, lenses, mounts, tripods, and even a remote control are used for these photographs.

Composition, timing, lighting, depth of field, the angle of the shot, and often physical exertion to reach a location all go into these pictures. Many times, just arriving at a location is half the fun. And for most places, I’ve gone back numerous times (often with the help of a GPS!) to capture the best light and season. The rest of my enjoyment comes from bringing back what I see to share with others. And even though I’ve been a photographer for years, when everything comes together in an instant, I still feel like a child on Christmas morning!

All pictures on this website were taken with one of the following cameras:

  • Canon EOS 5DII
  • Canon EOS 5D

Also, only Canon lenses were used. These lenses include the following:

  • EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM
  • EF 17-40 f/4L USM
  • EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM
  • EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
  • EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
  • EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
  • EF 24mm f/2.8 USM

Complementing these lenses, various circular polarizers or gradient filters helped capture the colors and lighting depending on the situation. I also use a Manfrotto tripod with a Gitzo head.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
